3 years ago today was 70013’s last mainline tour. The tour started at Ealing and ended at York. 70013 and the support coach went on to the The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway after a quick service at the National Railway Museum.

Even though the Beast from the East was in full swing with heavy snow and majority of service trains cancelled, 70013 arrived at York right on time.

Well done to all the support crew. It’s a fondly remembered trip even given the harsh weather.

D123 is the unsung hero of our locos.

Not only is it one of the few locos certified for high speed running and testing at the GCR, it’s often found at the rear end of the extended Santa trains."Peak Type 4 D123 passes Swithland Sidings with a southbound passenger train in early 2019."

Did you know that this loco also participates in testing at up to 75mph on the GCR?

We are authorised to operate trains for testing purposes at high speeds over our preserved main line, at times when there are no public train services operating.
